UPDATE: Times Beach was bought out by the federal government after it was discovered to be contaminated with dioxin and PCB contaminants in used oil that was spread in the early 1970s to keep the dust down on the gravel roads. That, and repeated flooding from the Meramec River doomed this small town. An old restaurant building on a bluff overlooking the few empty streets in town remains, and is currently used as the museum for "Route 66 State Park" Thanks for the opportunity to contribute, Marty Wilke
