RODNEY

NAME: Rodney
COUNTY: Jefferson
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 7
CLIMATE: Hot summer, mild winters usually
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Really hot in summer, but all year-round
COMMENTS: There are some deer camps in the vicinity- some houses down the road, but no one to my knowledge lives in the town.
REMAINS: Two churches, and three building (c. 1900)

Rodney was once a thriving town which rivaled Natchez and Vicksburg. There is a Union gunboat cannonball in the facade of the Baptist church. At one point, the town had two newspapers, and over one hundred stores. But after the civil war, the Mississippi River changed course, and two fires claimed the city. Submitted by: John Nettles
