COMMENTS:
In the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness
Area in the Gallatin National Forest. Located south of McLeod,
Montana and Natural Bridge St. Mon. Was a mining town. Some remains,
primarily mine shafts,cabins and the brothel. Located at about
10,000 ft above sealevel. Beautiful drive and scenery, but will
need a 4WD or good pair of hiking boots! Highest elevation with
remains at about 11,000 feet on Independence Peak. Good fishing
along the way too. Occasional moose, elk, deer, and Grizzily
bear sightings.. REMAINS: Cabins, mine shafts, brothel, outhouses,etc. |
