SANISH

NAME: Sanish
COUNTY: Montrail
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: snow in winter, hot and very dry in summer
BEST TIME TO VISIT: any
COMMENTS: The Sanish that exists today is the newer Sanish. They had to relocate the original Sanish when the Garrison Diversion Project brough Lake Sakakawea to central North Dakota.
REMAINS: None, unless the water gets really low. Stories exist of the original foundations of the buildings being exposed when Lake Sakakawea was really low during the droughts of the '70's.
Another town that fell victim to Lake Sakakawea. It was relocated to a place a few miles west of New Town, ND. Submitted by: Matt Rothchild
