COMMENTS: On S.R. 12 8 miles east of U.S. 183. REMAINS: Many abandoned buildings.

Burton was established as an agricultural town along with its post office in 1884. It didn't make the cut to become the county seat and has been fading ever since. The post office closed in 1973 and today there are less than 9 people left.
