Created in 1854 as likely the 1st town in Washington Co., this farmers township named from Logan Fontenelle who was directed to the spot by the Chief of the Omaha Indians. It was originally the county seat of Dodge Co. as of March 6, 1855, until 1860 when Washington Co. boundary was redefined on its location. Also to note was that it received charter for a Nebraska University to be built here in 1856 under the auspices of the COngregational Church. Submitted by: Tim Edwards
