NAME: Adobe COUNTY: Roosevelt ROADS: 2WD GRID: 6 CLIMATE: Pretty nice weather. Most of the time. BEST TIME TO VISIT: How about Lincolns birthday?

COMMENTS: Adobe.Spanish for sun dried brick. Three other Adobe's listed as settlements in New Mexico but not this one. It show in my book to be located aonly five miles east of Portales, N.M.but there is no mention of schools, post office, original settlers, nuthin. REMAINS: Nuthin

Adobe. Nice name. No records are available on this little settlement. I like the name. It was located in prime farm land and water should not have been a problem. Maybe we will find somerecords some day to tell us what happened that made them fail. The drought of 1906/1912 was very severe however so perhaps we need no further explanation.
