CLERMONT. Sprang up in 1878, 5 mi N of Mogolon, and died five years later when everyone moved to Cooney. Small outcropping of gold continued to be found in the 1890's along Copper Creek. Said to have been the first mining camp in the Mogollon region. Submitted by: Samuel W McWhorter
