Originally a farming community REMAINS: Much Remains |
Cloverdale's beginning is uncertain. It was founded as a ranching and farming community sometime after the turn of the century in the most southwestern part of New Mexico. There is an old deserted store built in 1918, an abandoned flagstone house and an old wooden dance pavilion, once a lively spot on Saturday nights. The community was rather widespread and never had a population more than two hundred. Courtesy Henry Chenoweth. |
