Cottonwood. More than a dozen towns were named Cottonwood in New Mexico. The meaningof course is the tree most common wherever water is coursing. The spanish name for Cottonwood is 'Alamo'. No postoffice was ever commissioned and I find no mention ofa school. Submitted by: Samuel W McWhorter
