FORREST. Farming and ranching community on NM 18, 36 Mi S of Tucumcari. Named for Forrest Farr, son of first postmaster and storekeeper. Watt Farr, sho moved here from Missouri with his family in 1907. When a new school building was constructed in 1928, Forrest was moved 1 mi N of its first location. Neighboring communities, including Plain, Stockton, Kirk, and Frio were started in the early days, but only Forrest survived aslong a it did. Submitted by: Samuel W McWhorter |
