FRESNAL: Changed to Highrolls. Span. 'ash tree'. Community in Doan Ana County until the creation of Otero County in 1899.FRESNAL CANYON. On W side of Sacramento Mts., between High Rolls and cloudcroft. First settlers ame in the 1870's and established an agricultural center with orchards and truck gardens.FRESNAL CREEK. Runs W through Fresnal canyon and with La Luz creek, drains 75 sq mi. First gristmill in county was built on this creek about 1887 by a French-Canadian named William Ostic.
