The elegant Fairview Hotel in Mineral City was its centerpiece offering a barbershop as well as a billiard hall for the entertainment of its guests. Also available was a tri-weekly stage running between the camp and Las Vegas. The town's population never exceeded several hundred residents although it did have a weekly newspaper named "The News." Mineral City had its beginning in the early 1880s. During the late 1890s the ore played out, people began to drift away, the hotel burned down and the town completely disappeared.Courtesy Henry Chenoweth. Mail to Las Vegas. MINERAL CITY.
