PUTNEY. Formerly JEMES. Changed to JEMEZ PUEBLO.PUTNEY MESA. Valencia County. 10 mi SW of Acoma Pueblo. The Putney family were nineteenth-century traders and wholesalers with headquarters in Albuquerque. Before the purchase by Acoma Indian Tribe, Putney Mesa was ranched by M. S. Major and his family. Wife Lilly;and children; Alice, Helen, Brother, Sister, Sonny, Baby Boy, Baby Girl, and Joan.
