This town began in 1882 as a proposed terminal for the Santa Fe Railroad. The train never came to town, however, and Robinson (named either for the chief railroad engineer or an early resident of Chloride) died by 1888 and its buildings were torn down. The town had its own post office in 1882-83 and was home to the area's first newspaper, "The Black Range," which later moved to Chloride. Courtesy Michael Cook. |
