COMMENTS: None. This is near the Rye Wilderness Area and right next to the bridge and canoe launch on the Manatee River. Take SR675 east from Parrish and turn south on Rye Rd. Turn right just across the small bridge and you are at the site REMAINS: Nothing

Rye was originally called Mitchellville, named after one of the first settlers. Mitchell owned the general store of the area. There was also a church at one time. When Mitchellville received a post office in 1884 the town was renamed Rye. Submitted by: Mike Woodfin
