SAN LUIS. A small ranching settlement on NM 279, 20 mi W of Jemez. This little settlement, as were many others along the Rio Puerco, were self sufficient little communities, with their own laws, and customs. If you were a friend to one family, you were generally accepted by the rest of the community. On the other hand, if you were not liked by any one of the community, you were probably not accepted by the rest of the town. The word "clannish" would fit here. REMAINS: Buildings and ruins. |
