The post office at Tolar was established in 1905 although the town was not platted until 1908. Located on the Belen cut-off of the Atchinson, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, thetown was named for Tolar, Texas by J. W. Coleman, the first postmaster, who had a daughter living there. A school was maintained in the community until 1926 when it was moved toTaiban in DeBaca County. Submitted by: Samuel W McWhorter |
