Franciso Montes Vigil and his wife came to Santa Fe as early as 1695, and in 1710 he received a grant of land at Alameda. They were the earlieste of a considerable number of Vigils who arrived to settle in NM during the eighteenth century. Submitted by: Samuel W McWhorter
