BLACKBURN

NAME: Blackburn
COUNTY: Eureka
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Hot summer, cool winter.
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Anytime.
COMMENTS: Not worth the trip
REMAINS: A few buildings.

Blackburn was little more than siding as well as a stop on the Eureka-Nevada Railroad until 1909 when the short-lived Buckhorn boom began. Blackburn became the major shipping point for all supplies headed to Buckhorn. As such, the railroad siding had its own little boom. It lasted until 1916 when the Buckhorn boom collapsed and Blackburn was headed for obscurity. But a gas station and grill survived until recently when both closed.
