Blue Eagle Spring was homesteaded in the 1860s. The Blue Eagle Spring Ranch became the center of the ranching district and continues to operate to this day. There was a store, a blacksmith shop, a saloon, and a station house that served many tired travelers. The store at the ranch operated until 1910 and the school until 1960. A few original buildings are left on the ranch including the old store and the saloon. In 1954 oil began to be produced nearby and the first flowing oil well in Nevada was drilled in the field in 1963.
