In May 1906 John Zabriskie made some gold discoveries and a small camp formed named Breyfogle because he believed the discovery was the lost Breyfogle mine. When nobody found much else in the area the camp disappeared just as quickly. The mine produced nothing. Prospectors built several cabins at Breyfogle and they remain in the canyon today.
