Charlestown was an obscure railroad and mining camp that came into existence in 1906 as the Las Vegas and Tonopah Railroad progressed westward to Rhyolite. When the railroad tore up its tracks in 1918, the camp was abandoned. Only some wood rubble from the water tank tower marks the site.
