NAME: Gold
Hitt COUNTY: Esmeralda ROADS: 4WD GRID: 4 CLIMATE: Snow in winter, mild in summer. BEST TIME TO VISIT: Summer. |
COMMENTS:
Gold Hitt is located down a 4 wheel drive road about
10 miles southwest of Basalt in the White Mountains. The jeep
trail was a lot of fun but nothing remains of the old townsite.
There is a newer cabin that fellow off road enthusiasts maintain
but it has no historical signifigance. REMAINS: Nothing. |
In the early 1900's Gold Hitt emergered as the silver boom
took hold of the state. The town was plotted in 1905, and within
a month over 200 people resided within the district. Submitted by: Cat Evans |
