The first discoveries in the Granite district occurred in 1922. Two mines emerged and operated until 1923 when the ore pockets in both mines were mined out. It wasn’t until the 1940s when tungsten was discovered that Granite became active again. Operations continued until 1958. There are still extensive remains at the site.
