GRUB'S WELL

NAME: Grubs Well
COUNTY: Eureka
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Hot summer, cool winter.
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Anytime.
COMMENTS: Interesting country.
REMAINS: Rubble.

A small ranch was active here when the Pony Express used it as a station and was called Camp Station. Later, after the failure of the Pony Express, Camp Station was renamed Grubb’s Well and was used by the Overland Stage until 1869. Today a lot of dilapidated buildings remain at Grubb’s Well but all were built around the turn of the century. The buildings were part of the ranch operation until the Great Depression of the 1930s when the property was abandoned for good.
