COMMENTS: Nice area. REMAINS: House ruins. |
One of the older camps in Nye County was Marysville. But it was one of those camps that was here today and gone tomorrow. There were high hopes when discoveries were made in 1863. By July of 1864, a townsite had been laid out and three houses had been built and the population was about twenty. But the discoveries proved to be small and were quickly mined out. As a result, the town to be was no more and the mines were abandoned. Only the ruins of several stone houses mark the site of one of the older camps in Nye County.
