Mineral was a dropping off point for all freight and passengers bound for Miner Hill. As a stop on the Eureka-Nevada Railroad during the 1870s, a substantial settlement developed as Mineral Hill continued to grow. The stop had the distinction of being the only eating station between Eureka and Palisade. Besides the restaurant, there was a saloon and a small railroad depot. When Mineral Hill began to decline in the mdi-1870s, only a handful of people remained at Mineral. Today, only a mound of dirt reveals where the station once stood.
