COMMENTS: Not worth the trip REMAINS: Hardly anything |
Royston was a small boomtown that formed in 1921 when word got out $20,000 worth of silver had been taken in only six weeks. By the end of 1921 Royston had a population of 300 and a small business district. Like a number of other locations during the same era, what appeared to be a bright future was momentary at best. A number of different mining companies worked claims in the area until 1948 when the district was abandoned forever. The townsite was never heavily populated after 1923 and the remains are almost nonexistent and are extremely hard to find.
