Today, only mine dumps mark where Sherwood was once a mining camp during 1887 and 1888. Only 15 miners every made there home at Sherwood. Most chose to live in more comfortable surroundings in nearby Union. The mines closed after the shallow ore deposits were emptied and no one has lived there since.
