SUMMIT

NAME: Summit
COUNTY: Eureka
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Hot summer, cool winter.
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Anytime.
COMMENTS: Interesting country.
REMAINS: Rubble.

At the top of Garden Pass summit at an altitude of 6,686 feet on the Eureka railroad was the stop appropriately named Summit. The engines took on water here after the difficult climb from Eureka. A small camp existed here for many years but never exceeded 25. The closing of the railroad in 1938 ended Summit’s usefulness. Only scant wooden rubble remains.
