CLIMATE: Hot summer, cool winter.

REMAINS: Quite a few buildings.

Willards was a stop on the Eureka-Nevada railroad. The stop was named for the Willard family, who ran a ranch next to the railroad. The main ranch house, which served as a boardinghouse and restaurant for railroad passengers, burned in 1916. Although no real settlement developed, a consistent population of 25 was reported for many years. Today the Willard ranch is still active. Many of the buildings date from the 1890s including one that was either a small depot or freight building.
