No one remembers how the village came to be called Climax. But there are plenty of stories from which to choose. The town had one hundred residents, a town hall, post office, a general store, and United Brethren Church. In time the railroad ceased to operate trains to Climax, businesses closed, and people moved away. A few people still live in Climax and still wonder how the town got its name.

There are many, many more names of towns that populated Ohio during the 18 th , 19 th , and 20 th centuries that no longer exist except for the historical significance of their names. For information about those towns and villages, it is suggested the book “Ghosts—Ohio's Haunted Landscapes, Lost Arts & Forgotten Places” by Randy McNutt be your reference.
