New Boston was an early settlement in Clark County. It was founded and platted by Henry Baily in November, 1809. When Clark County was established in 1818, there was a big rivalry between New Boston and Springfield to become the county seat. Springfield was chosen, and New Boston began its steady decline. Today there is nothing remaining of the town of New Boston, except for the Fair at New Boston held annually on the site of the 1780 Battle of Piqua, near the actual site of New Boston.
