COMMENTS:
Lone star was less than 2 miles south west of Lone Pine. Both were inundated by the Poteau river When the wister dam was completed forming wister lake. Graves from lone star were relocated to cemeteries out of the lakes reach. During summer dry spells or winter draw-down remains can be seen via the many access roads around the lake. REMAINS: Foundations-Under water |
Pre-dates statehood,small community like many others and was deserted in 1946-47-48 and the dam was completed in 1949 flooding the areas. Submitted by: Justin Minor |
