| Founded in 1902 by gold miners in the Wichita mountains, Meers grew rapidly into the typical boom camp. It had its own newspaper, doctors, a gold smelter, post office, stores and more. By 1905 Meers had died due to lack of gold. Today there is a museum at the site. |
