NAME: Reeding COUNTY: Kingfisher ROADS: 2WD GRID: 1 CLIMATE: Hot summers and mild winters. BEST TIME TO VISIT: Spring and fall. |
COMMENTS:
Reeding is located nine miles east and five miles south of Kingfisher, Oklahoma on county roads. REMAINS: A few foundations and the remains of wood structures. |
In the late 1800's it hosted two schools, several churches, and a population up to 1,000. The close proximity to the oilfields south in Oklahoma City and the new State Capitol in Guthrie made it almost like a boom town. Farming was the main attraction due to the sandy loam and influx of many land hungry immigrants. Submitted by: Douglas L. Fisher |
