This story is made up of excerpts from the notes of the late Dora Maulding. Anlauf post office established in 1901 and discontinued in 1946. It was named after Robert Anlauf because it was on part of his ranch. Main business of the town was logging,piling, and farming. Jimmy Sterlingwas the first postmaster of theAnlauf post office. There was also The Anlauf Train Depot,with theSouthern Pacific and O and C lines.Robert Anlauf and his brother werecarpenters and built many houses in Drain and other areas. The Robert Anlaufs had six children. Their first born was Clarence who was born in 1883 in Drain Oregon. The other five children were born at the ranch. They were Babe, Clay, Lulu, Hilda, and Dora.
