The McIntyre Coal Co. was founded in 1870 by Jervis Langdon. About 300 houses were built along with a large store, church, school, office, shoe/boot shop and public hall. A 2300' incline plane, along with a 1500' rail road and another 560' plane were built to get the coal to the valley below. The operation was given up and the town was abandoned in 1886. A fire later burned the town. Submitted by: Wade Pryor |
