COMMENTS: Rattling Run lies in a roadless area and can be accessed from the Stony Valley Rail Trail or from Stagecoach Road, which is closed to motorized traffic but serves as the state game commission's access road to the top of the mountain. It can be reached by following Stony Creek Road from Dauphin and then turning right onto Ellendale Road, which ends at a state gameland parking lot at the trailhead for the Rail Trail.

Rattling Run was a small coal mining community in Stony Vally or Saint Anthony's Wilderness which also served as a stagecoach stop on the old stagecoach road from Dauphin on the Susquehanna River to Pottsville. Submitted by: David K. Schreur
