COMMENTS:
The Salem/Overall area is an old Township in Middle TN near Murfreesboro. There are some remaining buildings of the original town, specifically an old country store, gas station and an historic Methodist Church which dates back to 1812. East of these buildings is a chimney standing in a field, significant because it shows up as Lillyard Est on an 1878 survey of Rutherford Co available at the City Mapping Department. Take I24 to exit 80, go West on 99/Salem Hwy, turn right onto Old Salem Rd, 1/2 mile to intersection of Old Salem and Rucker Ln. | Salem/Overall are being absorbed by Murfreesboro and now only exist as a three-way stop. At one time it was the 'watering hole' where locals gathered at the country store to gossip and gas-up the tractors across the street.
