Wild community 10 miles east of Dallas, Texas. Post Office established in 1854. Scyene was the haunt of outlaws Belle Star, Cole and Bob Younger, Frank and Jessie James, and others of less notoriety. Old Scyene once boasted six saloons, a school, twenty-six businesses, and one church. The town began to die when the Texas and Pacific Railway bypassed it in 1873. Submitted by: g. ward |
