NAME: Signal Hill COUNTY: Hutchinson ROADS: 2WD GRID: 1 CLIMATE: Windy, cold in the winter, hot in the summer BEST TIME TO VISIT: Any time |
COMMENTS:
Four miles east of Stinnett. Drive east on Broadway (the one from the school) about three miles, cross the dry creek and about half a mile past that a road turns left. You are there, old town stretched from there to the top of the small hill from which it got its name. REMAINS: Concrete floor of old bank |
Founded in 1926, get to over 12,000 people, died and was gone with the last building (the old bank) demolished in 1934 for the bricks. I was born in Signal Hill in 1928 and we moved our house a mile west in 1930 and finally into Stinnett in 1938. I went back in 2005 and here's my story.http://www.jimforeman.com/Stories/gohome.htm Submitted by: Jim Foreman |
