Joseph F. Smith, nephew of Texas' provisional governor Henry Smith founded the town of St. Mary's in 1857. For a short time served as county seat for Refugio county, TX. In 1886 a storm destroyed the town and residents moved away. Submitted by: Robert L. DeLong
