Take 337 east out of Leakey for about 26 miles or so, and look for the renovated log cabins (circa 1890) on the right. Turn right after the last cabin, go down loose gravel road for a few hundred yards REMAINS: General Store/Post Office |
In 1883, Andrew Crockett, one of the earliest settlers, donated part of his land, located on the west prong of the Medina River, to build a school for local children. It was the first public structure built in the area. The one room clapboard schoolhouse was christened the “Crockett School” and served 19 children during the first year. Submitted by: Erik Rabe |
