COMMENTS: Situated where Highway 191 and 6 come together up Carbon Canyon. This city is gone now.  I remember visiting family there in the 1970's.  My mother was born in Castle Gate.  There is a coal mine ocupying the spot where Castle Gate stood. REMAINS: Cemetery

The entire town was moved from Castle Gate to Helper and Kenilworth which is also almost a ghost town.  Coal mines everywhere.  The big mines moved the town.  Most of the residents were miners or descendants of miners. Submitted by: Ernie Pease
