Settled about 1870 and named Diamond because of prospectors thinking that the crystals in the area were diamonds, However it was just quartz. The population was around 900 people. The town died and the last people moved away around 1890 after water was struck in the mine shafts. All that remains of the town are the old mine tailings and a graveyard. Submitted by Bob Bezzant.
