Morhland was a mining community established around 1907. By the early 1920's, there were more than 200 houses, a large amusement hall, a small hospital, a four-room school, and a population near 1,000. Mohrland had several distinct neighborhoods that tended to divide along ethnic lines. The town was abandoned in 1938 when the mine there was shut down.
