BENGE

NAME: Benge
COUNTY: Adams
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 3
CLIMATE: Hot summers, mild winters
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Year around
COMMENTS: Benge is a small town in rural Eastern Washington, in the SE corner of the county. It has a Kingergarten - Sixth grade school (2 room school house), general store with post office in the rear, community church, and old grange hall. Some of the abandoned houses have been torn down in the past few years, but the wooden frame store and the desolate surroundings makes Benge a unique and out of the way spot to visit, or stay!
REMAINS: Empty and viable houses, school, general store, post office, grange, church, fire station
Benge once was a thriving town. It had its own merchantile company, Bank of Benge (10,000 in capital), drug store, barber, K-12 school, and much more! Most of it is gone, however the pioneer spirit lives on. Submitted by: Thomas Pulliam
