REMAINS: not much; mostly the Grist Mill
Etna was a small farming community established in the late 1800's. Was mostly a "farmer's gathering place". There was once a cheese factory about a mile west of the Grist Mill; I haven't been there in awhile and am uncertain if the old brick buildings are still there. My dad used to tell me that Victor Roslund, who built and operated the Grist Mill in the old days would have dances for the local folks in the mill building. The primary mainstay of the town was agriculture and some logging. To my knowledge it never had a post office of it's own. The town started to die off in the early 1940's I believe, probably due in part to WWII. It is still a beautiful drive, and the mill is very educational, especially for kids.
